Schnitzel.

We have no heat again and it is freezing in my room.
During our ordeal in the midst of the hurricane Sandy, on one of the days, my husband hiked to the street (no power, no heat, don't remember if also no water, no elevator) and it was  truck on the street with hot food, "Schnitzel & Things", sponsored by mayor Bloomberg. My husband brought it also to my poor friend, who stuck on 20th floor, sick and in pain, forgotten.  It was suddenly a piece of normality, meat, hot, pretty, like it is possible to live again, and somewhere life and other people.
So I drew it.

I cannot imagine what you all are going through, Nikira. My heart goes out to all of you. I'm thankful your mayor is stepping up to help during these tough times.

Thank you very much, CrimsonLeaves, I guess it will be long period of healing physical wounds and psychological for people affected.Drawing definitely helps, like crying helps to release toxins. :-) Yesterday I was told that rebuilding our 5 generators will take few months. So it is few months of power going on and of.

My best wishes from Madrid. Drawing together a future full of light, hot meals and showers, and happy watercolours. Surrender is an annoying word, like Sandy.

Thank you very much Lowon, for your support, you are right, future should be bright and happy and I appreciate immensely water flushing the toilet (I been thinking to draw it), hot shower, smell of soap and smile on my daughter's face. Just have to come out of bad experience by getting it out of my system by drawing staples of my ordeal. :-) I was laughing so hard on your blog, what a wonderful portraitist you are.
