Trying to climb up from the dark spot, what my life was for the last couple of weeks, when my half asleep-half nightmares of distorted images of struggling people, broken pieces of houses and cars and lives, black water, madе me silent and helpless, madе me feel I can't draw.
We got power back today, some imitation of hot water, it is still cold but light makes it all possible, so I finished this drawing, which I did in short rides to my freezing work room, wrapped in warm oversized sweater with hot tea in my other hand.

Nikira, my heart breaks for you and all those suffering the effects of Sandy still. As always, your drawings are magnificent.
Well , you might want to think of it this way: We had 10-days backout 2 years ago, and only 3-days powerout last year, all this along with no water at all.
I hope your life goes back to normal soon, as it happened with us here. Thanks for your almost daily posts.
Thank you, CrimsonLeaves, for your kindness. Sorry for sadness, but it is what I can draw about for now, like small steps to the light.
Fabian, for me is hard now to come back to drawing, because everything feels unimportant in the face of a tragedy. Seeing faces of my neighbors, nearest streets with black holes where happy restaurants and stores use to be, walking around and unable to buy food. It is not physical discomfort, being cold, hungry, locked up in tomb of my black building, but being emotionally numb. So through drawings about it I am trying to go back. I hope to draw about kindness and support of others, who brought water and food and hope and warm words to desperate people. :-)
Dear Nikira - happened upon your post...so glad you have power back and will be keeping you in my prayers. Take care my friend.
Thank you so much, Debbie, it is amazing to feel other people's shoulders, when unthinkable happens.
