Shadows.

I had to finish with different ink since the Diamine ink sample went quickly. This composition with chairs shadows,  with life of their own, strange feelings of warmth and loneliness, beauty and broken pieces of light and shadows, was haunting me since I did the first sketch. It says "alone" in Japanese, in the left corner.

this is a moving, lovely work. in the words you are using to describe, "warmth" "loneliness" "haunting", as well as Japanese word for "alone" -- I would say you have done remarkably well to capture feelings of Japanese concept "natsukashii" - sentimental, wistful emotions, physical feelings or pangs in one's chest - such as broken heart or heart feeling moved. Deep feelings of missing someone or somebody or something. It's a transparent sadness, and it's close to melancholy or depression. But, it's not either one of those. There can be feeling of sweetness and longing. "Happily sad." The difference in this feeling from depression, is that there is hope involved. It can be very passionate longing. It can be homesickness and nostalgia. emptiness.

the feeling is also for this sadness and longing, to be missing a part of one's own self.

In Hebrew, it's "Ergah" or ערגה

In Finnish, the best word is "kaiho". This is feeling of incompleteness and yearning for something not attainable - from the past memories, or feeling for the future.

The feeling can be very creative - and you are showing here in your sketches and paintings and the words you put to these works. The feeling can also be captured in music - the Argentine tango can be filled with this "alone" emotion. Even better is the Finnish tango - in the country dance halls, the feelings can be so filled with emotion and longing -- it's very sensuous.

my feeling is that your work is very creative -- is doing a masterful thing, to capture in your artwork this feeling of longing for homeland, longing for something or somebody or feelings that have left deep impression on your heart. you are expressing this quite well as undertones in your visual and written works. have you thought to put into music as well? in earlier paintings, I think you have shown singers who have captured your heart - those who sing from the heart.

have you heard the singers from Portugal who sing about saudades? or, better is the singers from Cape Verde Islands, and their Creole "sodadi". some of best is Brasilian.

my mother's own first language, Slovenian, has many words for this feeling of longing, missing someone, and nostalgia for things that might no longer exist - such as a time and place of old country, family, and missing deeply.

so, it's really, really good to see how you continue to work with this emotions, to work into your creativity and artwork - to put your feelings onto the paper. to attain the feelings, to express the feelings that are inexpressible. to attain the unattainable.

Thank you so much, John, for your amazing comment, it moved me emotionally, because opened more than I admit to myself.
I am really impressed by your deep knowledge in different cultures. I think you are very right. Pretty often emotions goes into my work against my wantings. Because as a product of my culture and my personal experience I am deeply embarrassed of emotions and all my life strive for personal freedom, which is above all that. But my element is Earth and my planet is Venus, so I am bound to be trapped by feelings.
Thank you very much again John.
