Cool bracelet is our future Iphone?

Interesting idea to use your skin instead of handheld.

Amazing bracelet!

Everyday is something exiting about life.  Yesterday saw a program on TV about dogs able to detect cancer cells at the very beginning of deadly disease. Dogs, able to feel level of blood sugar and worn people before it become too dangerous.

Breakfast in Naples.

Creating memory. Birthday breakfast in Naples, Florida. Experimenting with inks. Ink and Kuretake.
When I asked if it is Ok to stay and draw after the meal, the waiter said I will pay you a million dollars for the portrait of your daughter.

Concert and sketches.

Sketched on the Subway on the way to concert of Federico Aubele in Brooklyn. First was young group from Montreal, so I sketched them a little, than it became too dark.

Federico Aubele was amazing, he mixes sounds of the street with traditional Argentinian tango and longing guitar. It is especially touching for me, because I am on the 3-d book of Carlos Ruiz Zafon, and my heart is connected to Barcelona for now. Aubele from Buenos Aires and lived and created music in Barcelona, and so is Natalia Clavier, the magic voice of many of his songs.
Here is one of his songs from new Album, I bought there.

Carrousel

I could not help it swaying along with music.

A bit rough, on the way home. Came home around 1 am, what a youngster. I will draw my impression in ink, as soon as I'll gain a bit of freedom.

Street scene in Brooklyn.

I found this old piece of paper and was happy to dig into ink again, even my brain is still in rotation about how to finish changes I started.
Something really attractive in that symbiosis of machinery and people. I used ink, Kuretake and Lamy Safari pen.

Just one page.

Scribbling in my deprived Gamma sketchbook between phone calls and irritation by loud giggly receptionists gave me few minutes of piece and chance to hold my adorable green vintage pencil Bell System.
I was stupid enough to mention to my daughter that besides doubling my medication doc told me to stay away from coffee, now I will never be able to have my coffee in the morning. :-(
Interesting reads today in the morning, I like the idea to focus on human. Mirin Dajo.

Uneasy day.

Being bullied by consequences of my attempts to do renovation, fighting aggravation and high blood pressure, I am using hours of insomnia to surf the web and look and learn.

Running into Andrew Wyeth and, probably, getting his book with sketches.

I really enjoy this E-recipes site with clever designs and delicious ideas, hoping one day to be free enough to try it.

Green night.

I named it Green Night because of unreal yellow-green light which  lit up this corner of the small Brooklyn street. Adorable street signs, balding trees. I, probably, project my own feelings, as usual, after reading about Ingeborg Bachmann and her in the book by Max Frisch "Gantenbein", the book, which I bought for my daughter not so long ago and loved in my youth, never knew that he wrote about Ingeborg Bachmann and their complicated love story. And I got sad reading about her in her forties burning to death alone in her Rome apartment, leaving unfinished books...
Anyway, about drawing, I scraped some lines on beautiful expensive paper with broken syringe, then drew with ink and couple of Kuretake brush pens.

Sketching in Delta with water soluble pencil.

Sketched yesterday on the way in the medical office. On the top drew my antique Redipoint pencil, I think it is from 1920 something, it said Martin Miller on the side. 1.18mm lead, a bit too dry for quick sketching, but sometimes good for underlying sketch for ink.
Our cat Liza was diagnosed with cancer, and we cried and tried, and agonized over her, we love her very much. She is 14 years old and was born in our home. She is the gentlest soul. And it looks like she took a pity on us, thinking she still needs to take care of us, and she start eating and going to the bathroom again, despite doctors advices to think of how to part with her. Every time she showing interest in food, the whole family is dancing greek dance around her with huge smiles.

She is sitting on Time Capsule.

Also I saw it online and really like it Drawing on glass tutorial.

Spread in Stillman & Birn Gamma sketchbook.

My first Gamma sketchbook by Stillman & Birn almost over, hard to part with such beautiful and reliable companion. I used it for sketching, doodling, writing memos and phone numbers, put many washes and paper sustained all my experiments.
To finish quiet evening I will repost charming DJ mix by Federico Aubele I found on Twitter. No matter what he does, for some reason it is perfectly answering my inner rhythm, with voice or just   acoustics. Love his melodies.

ATC card and links.

Saw few interesting links today, while experimenting with ATC card for one artist, it is pretty hard to work on such miniature drawing.

Scanner does not pick up sparkles, so I tried to photograph it along with my pens, to indicate the size. On the left Uranus pen with dual tips, on the right Lamy Safari and my antique Art deco Smoker's pencil.
Here is the same card with sparkles looking at through the day light magnifying lamp, also one of my newest toys. Not easy to use it, hurts eyes and distorting image.

One of the links is about sharpeners, how to sharpen colored pencils. This led me to interesting tips on how to use vinegar for reviving dry brushes. Then I stumbled on magic scanning color pen, which is an idea yet. And earlier wonderful short movie about Tokyo.

Movie about artist.

Saw a movie about Seraphine Louis, French artist from the beginning of the century. Also looked a her works and found some info About her and here some images of her work. Very touching and made me think again that we all on that invisible line between fitting in and falling into our own world, where no one else could be invited.

Sharing beautiful idea of Twin-Bush Technique.

I didn't know about Chinese calligraphy master, but I often used that trick on my own, because it gives you so much freedom. Look at this tutorial Twin-Brush technique on Earnest Ward's blog.

Saw this on Twitter, it made me laugh. Playing with languages is my long time attraction. Sounds the same, different meaning.

Means different things on different languages.

Ideas for kitchen.

Reusing old stuff.

Just love how old wood, parts and pieces could be used for creating homey look.

Sketchbook pages.

Couple of rough sketches on a Subway and running around. Pencils in Stillman&Birn Gamma book.
I saw the movie, documentary about Francesca Woodman, called The Woodmans, what an amazing artist photographer, what an amazing short but so productive life, she committed suicide at age 22. Her diary, aren't we all feel the same? Why it is so hard to understand and be OK with being imperfect?
