Beer.
Beer. Sweet memories of a day in New York in ink and mixed media.
I used gold leaf and some sparkly inks. Tried to scan and end up just using my iPhone.
Otherwise, colors and gold just impossible to recognize.
Used very special paper with deckled edges from the Handmade Watercolor book, my Birthday present.
Here is the detail.

Bar Mitzvah.
I did this painting about Father and Son. A moment in life when a boy becomes a man.
I used ink and mixed media on special watercolor paper, which I order from England.
Here is a detail of the painting. I like to use sparkling textures, most of it doesn't read by the scanner.

Israeli.
Ink and mixed media. Shimmering stuff I used, doesn't scan and gold glitter also doesn't show, but it's here. I met this young guy and we had interesting conversations, he recommended me few pretty sharp music groups, which I added to my iPod playlist. He is a modern young boy, but he knows how to talk to G-d. Amazing. Modern and ancient. Young and wise.

Manhattan Rickshaw.
Very colorful brushstroke of the city life this rickshaws on the one of the busiest streets of Manhattan, right across from the Apple store. I used that new ink, Noodler's and few Kuretake pens on grey Bockingford paper. Maybe paper made this ink so super yellow? Same ink looks different on the other paper, in Stillman&Birn sketchbooks and on Hahnemuhle.

Marika and cake.
Here is Marika, she speaks Hungarian and she is very sweet person. She works in the house where I touched up mural recently. She made me nice coffee and brought this wonderful cake. I mention in the other post that while working downstairs she was singing opera arias, it was pretty amazing. And about this cake, it may not look that special, but the taste was mind blowing, some tiny pieces of nuts and thin layer of coffee cream, and topped with coconut. I used ink in Moleskine.

42 street in Manhattan.
One of the busiest streets. Even at night. Ink and added 2 Inktense pencils later. One day I want to make my own sketchbook in a regular book jacket, so drawing in public would be even more discrete, it would look like I am reading a book.

Bryant Park from Ave of America's side.
When my daughter was little we use to go to Manhattan every weekend, I planned our adventure ahead on a computer: place to see, place to eat, walk a lot, little fun to buy something , so she will tolerate exhibitions and serious music. We called it celebration of life. It was exhausting but wonderful. So she got used to museums, opera, concerts. (It was pretty cheap, family and student's special discounts). And we fell in love with Manhattan, where you can always find something new to explore. So here Bryant Park from Ave of America's side and I fit people in. Ink and couple of Inktense pencils.

Manhattan towards Grand Central.
Hard to fit in stretched to the sky Manhattan's buildings even in my furry sketchbook 11 3/4x8. I used mixed ink, it has a feeling of old daguerreotype, which I like. I want to feel connected.

Waiting and Fellini.
Quick sketch today in the morning. And Fellini was screaming sadly behind the door, so I let him sit on warm router and watch me drawing him on the top of today's scribbling.

Sheepsheadbay.
I went to pick up deposit for Baby's room and on the way back parked near Canal and sketch side of the street with boat. Two girls also got into picture. Where all this joy from sketching? I felt helpless and lost. I shell go there again and do other boats, big ones.

Liza, the kindest and loving cat on Earth.

She will give you all her warmth and lick your nose till it sanded off. And she is not afraid of anything, she was born in our family and never learn anything bad or scary. She loves man at work and always the first to watch them closely fix cable box, paint closet. Funny.
