Sketch party.

Went to sketch party to draw costumed models. Lots of fun. Used different materials. Soft pencils, ink, Ecoline brush pens.

Here I used ink. We had live jazz music, piano, it was really awesome to sketch and listen to music, my favorite things to do.

Pretty hard to sketch two models at once.

I like these Ecoline markers, colors a bit too bold, but water works with it.  I used Stillman and Birn sketchbook, it took washes nicely, very good paper. I really enjoyed it and since that went to a few different events.

Evening.

Quick watercolor and ink sketch while waiting in the car somewhere  on the outskirts of the highway behind sports club. I got dark very fast and I couldn't see a thing, but after a day in the basement and meaningless touchups and samples it was good enough just to roll a water brush in my hands and stare on tree trunks in silence. I used Stillman&Birn Gamma sketchbook, Diamine ink, Bijou watercolor box.

This is the view from the train station, it is often lit up by the sun and washed with blue air from the ocean. I was thinking to use pencil more in my quick sketches as a basic tool. Here used Dervent Graphitone.

Thanksgiving 2009

Inna. Thanksgiving. We got a little tipsy on “Alize”. I could not pass the moment to capture the pose. Ink on WC Moleskine.

French restaurant in Manhattan, NY.

After visiting Tim Burton's exhibit in MOMA my daughter and I went to eat in a small restaurant. We had nice conversation, like in good old times, so I wanted to stop the moment and enjoy it beyond it physical   frame.

I had few minutes waiting for my husband in the car, so scribbled what was in front of me.

I did it instead of work, even it was very hard for me to take it seriously because I was shaken by James Jean, I discovered online. And I ordered his book earlier today.

Road in Tannersville.

I was send to pick up chinese soup, but instead I  stuck for a while doing this watercolor, because I felt I wont get the chance to draw,  dealing with all this renovating problems. So at list this day was not lost  completely.

Quiet street.

It was my morning exercise since I didn't have to go to work early. Finely I put my eyes on watercolor Molly. Used Bijou, Kolinski a bit and waterbrush. Dogs were with me, smelling with rain on the back of the car and listening to Chromeo.

Lunch in Roll-n-Roaster

This place used to be cool for burgers, round fries with cheese and orangeade, but now "Five brothers and fries" in Kingston overshadowed it. When Inna was a meat eater we liked to go there. Now I was lonely chewer, gazing out of the window and drew my leftover with new Bijou watercolors. I was mad nervous. It got dark too fast. Should I use a pen over?

Sheepsheadbay.

I went to pick up deposit for Baby's room and on the way back parked near Canal and sketch side of the street with boat. Two girls also got into picture.  Where all this joy from sketching? I felt helpless and lost. I shell go there again and do other boats, big ones.

Evening sketch.

I was miserable on sat night and start sketching view from the porch with pencils Stabilo Wood, which I got long time ago and never found good way to use it.  It felt weird, so I add Koi watercolor. Got dark very fast and gnats almost ate me alive.

Autumn.

Purple cloud scared me away from the porch in the old house. Rain started.

Pleasant day.

Yesterday after lunch I was drawing my backyard, letting my mind to  unwind and for a moment to be in piece with myself. Soon it was over and we went to the city, crawling in traffic, listening to Natacha Atlas on ipod.

Was kinda cool to sit in the car and draw with Inktense pencils. Gotta figure out what the heck this weird English pencils for. The result is not equal to pleasure .
