I didn't know about Chinese calligraphy master, but I often used that trick on my own, because it gives you so much freedom. Look at this tutorial Twin-Brush technique on Earnest Ward's blog.
Oy! By the time I mastered that technique I could have painted quite a few sketches! LOL I just hold the extra brush in the same hand that holds the sketchbook open and easily slip the one in the right hand into the left and back.
I find it very uncomfortable, especially on the train, to use both hands, while sketching. When I have a table, floor, car or easel much easier to have a bunch of tools handy. :-)
